Researchers invented a new a method that selects viable embryos based upon buoyance, an indirect measure of biochemical composition, without any direct sampling or risk to the embryo. To do this, researchers isolated stem cells from patient stomach samples, and grow them under special conditions in the lab to obtain mini-stomachs in a dish that mimic the behaviour of a human stomach. With the help of physics and the bright X-ray beams from Cornell University’s synchrotron, food scientists have found the recipe for phycocyanin’s unique behavior. The scientists describe development of a cost-effective Scotch-tape-like film that can be applied to PSCs and capture 99.9% of leaked lead in the event of solar cell damage.
