In this episode of Laboratory Equipment's LabChat podcast, Editor-in-Chief Michelle Taylor speaks with Kimberly Muller, who is the Executive Director of CU Innovations at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. There, her responsibilities include investing, company creation, innovation management, forming key strategic industry partnerships, and licensing.

Muller was recently a co-author of a new study that highlights the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus as an example of how an academic medical center can turn groundbreaking research into commercial products that improve patient care and public health. For example, CU Anschutz developed two vaccines for shingles, Zostavax and Shingrix, and worked with industry partners to distribute them globally.

In the podcast, Muller shares the unique attributes of CU Anschutz's "innovation ecosystem" that allows the medical campus to effectively commercialize their research breakthroughs. She also shares advice for other programs looking to move the needle on translational research.
