In this episode of Laboratory Equipment's LabChat, Michelle Taylor speaks with Alyssa Carson. Carson is your average 19-year-old who is learning to navigate this COVID-19 world as a college student. Then again, she's not like almost every other teenager in the world in that Carson is a certified astronaut in training and future Mars Walker. In fact, NASA selected Carson as one of only seven ambassadors representing Mars One, a mission to establish a human colony on Mars in 2030.

Carson has witnessed three Space Shuttle launches, attended Space Camp seven times, Space Academy three times, Robotics Academy once, and was the youngest to graduate Advanced Space Academy. Her mantra: Always follow your dream and don’t let anyone take it from you. Carson's online persona is NASA Blueberry, a reference to her call sign.

Listen to the 13-minute podcast below to learn more about Carson's journey that may very well make her this generation's Neil Armstrong.
