KNF's Liquid Pumps Feature Easy Operation

Dan McDougall, KNF Neuberger senior manager, demonstates the newly launched SIMDOS diaphragm liquid dosing pump, which made its debut at Pittcon 2010. Roland Anderson, laboratory product manager, also demonstrates the company's SC920 vacuum pump system.

The SIMDOS diaphragm liquid dosing pump from KNF Neuberger, Inc. is designed with simplicity in mind. The easy-to-read display combined with a touch control knob makes programming and access of all functions very intuitive. Diaphragm pumps are ideally suited for transferring the corrosive liquids often found in laboratories.

The pump is available with a variety of wetted materials, including PTFE/FFPM. The pump head is situated outside the splash-protected IP-65 housing, a significant safety factor. Fast, precise calibration is crucial for any dosing pump.

The  pump accomplishes this in the shortest times possible. Following calibration, repeatability is +/-1%. The pump transfers liquids with a flow rate of 0 to 100ml/min and doses volumes of 0 to 1000 ml. It offers long-term stability and consistent reliability throughout entire processes. The pump is safe to run dry and is self-priming up to 9 ft of water. It is effective against pressures of up to 90 psig and transfers viscous media up to 150 centistokes. Uses 1/4" compression fittings for 1/8" ID tubing.

The integrated software permits the transfer parameters to be modified for a range of different viscosities at the touch of a button. Designed to have a compact footprint, the pump takes up little valuable lab bench space.

SC920 series vacuum pump systemThe exclusive wireless SC920 series vacuum pump system, which brings fast and precise processing, extremely quiet operation and easy regulation of all vacuums, is now available with wireless remote control. The wireless touchscreen remote provides full operation of the pump’s different operating modes and functions, allowing for flexibility, operation outside the fume hood, and optimal use of lab space.

The system supports four different operating modes, all accessible from the remote control: vessel evacuation, with adjustable pump capacity, constant pressure control, managed precisely to chosen values, automatic detection of the sample’s vapor pressure, and intelligent regulation of process pressure according to a user-defined pressure curve.

The pump’s diaphragm stabilization system provides high suction speeds even at low pressures, and the SC920 is suitable for most models of rotary evaporators.

The pump is easy to control with the intuitive user guide: all process parameters are entered and adjusted with the wireless remote control, using the simple touchscreen and user-friendly control knob. Relocate the SC920 system away from processing equipment to save valuable lab space, avoid needless opening of the fume hood, and no tangled cables. The pump can also be controlled via a PC using Windows-based software.
