Production Machines Allow Real Scale Up

Vacumix production unit The scaleability of the process parameters and processes determined in the laboratory to production conditions is the decisive plus point. In order to allow a real scale up, vessels as well as machine components are designed to scale to the larger VAKUMIX production machines . Identical tip speeds of homogenizers and agitators are maintained for the entire range of company mixers. The laboratory units consist of a homogenizing mixer, an utility module and a machine control. The entire utility unit for heating, cooling and vacuum is located in the lower part of the machine, behind a lockable door.

External connections required for the units include: cooling water supply and return (3/8''), wastewater connection 3/4'', compressed air 6 bar, power supply 400 V / 50 Hz and CEsocket. Mixers have a pressure- and vacuum-proof machine design (-1/+2 bar) and GMP-style design of mixing vessel . All parts in contact with the product are high-grade steel (AISI 316L). A bidirectional operation of anchor agitator with double-sided PVDF-scraper and stepless RPM-control of the agitator drive via frequency changer for optimization of mixing intensity are also featured. Horizontal and vertical mixing is enabled through special baffle positioning.

The homogenizer has a 4-rim rotor-stator-system with RPMcontrol (5,5 kW; up to 14000 1/min = 31 m/s rotor tip speed) and its motor is stainless steel and water-cooled style,
thus low in noise for laboratory operation. Powerful homogenizing is possible within the vessel as well as in the recirculation, and there is residue-free drainage of the machine via the homogenizer.

Units allow easy cleansing in inline-operation with a CIP (Cleaning-In-Place) and SIP (Sterilizing-In-Place) – style design. All machine components of the product area can be
sterilized up to 130 C, and product feeding is accomplished via suction- and dosing valves. Units feature a mobile stainless steel machine stand, with an electrical lid lifting device as well as an electrical heating and cooling system, pressure-proof (+ 6 bar).
