Portable GC Interchanges with Five Detectors Easily The lightweight, portable Model 312 GC from PID Analyzers is suited for environmental, quality control, and natural gas applications. Easy to use with its 7" VGA color touchscreen programming, the instrument also provides large data storage capability in a 2-GB smart card and a choice of GC detectors. It is powered by a Pentium PC with Windows XP operating system and PeakWorks chromatography software.
A series of detectors can be easily interchanged, allowing the GC to be used for a variety of applications in the field or lab. The detector electronics are compact and modular, and the detector can be changed by removing the column, connector and two screws. Only three sets of electronics are available for the five detectors, so users need buy only a second or third detector and second electronics package for upgrading.
The GC accommodates packed (1/8" or 1/16"), capillary (0.53- or 0.32-m ID), or PLOT columns by any manufacturer on a 4: diameter spool. An optional heated injector is used for liquid samples. Taken from a PeakWorks program, the algorithms for data processing are incorporated in the embedded software.
Other portable analyzers include the Model 102+ PID with up to three additional sensors—EC, IR and CG.
