The Thermo Scientific Hypersil BDS range now includes smaller 2.4-µm particle size columns. Previously available only in 3 and 5 µm, the 2.4-µm particles generate higher efficiency delivered over a greater range of optimum linear velocity. This allows operation at higher flow rates without losing performance. When combined with shorter columns, faster chromatographic separations can be obtained using conventional HPLC or UHPLC systems. The range of robust, reproducible columns is made from base-deactivated silica. The base deactivation process decreases silanol interactions, resulting in reduced peak tailing and enhanced peak symmetry. The columns are suited for QA/QC labs in applications where reproducibility and long column lifetimes are required, such as determining active components in pharmaceuticals.
