Edwards’ nEXT—a turbomolecular vacuum pump— features a state of the art rotor design that allows it to deliver ultra-high vacuum, reduced cost of ownership and reliable performance for applications such as high-energy physics and particle accelerators in a compact size. Designed with minimum maintenance requirement and maximum reliability and user serviceability in mind, the pump’s bearing mechanism can be serviced quickly and simply in the field, thereby reducing the overall cost of ownership. Despite low power requirements, the pump achieves the highest standard nitrogen pumping speeds for its size—up to 400 L/sec. The company’s other pump offers include the nXDS, a dry scroll pump for scientific pumping applications. Tip-seal technology and advanced scroll design result in a longer lifetime compared to other products; while built-in intelligent control, communication options and a standby mode offer reduced power consumption and increased process control. A green mode also enables users to reduce energy costs, minimizing their carbon footprint. Entirely oil-free, the dry scroll pump has no lubricants in the vacuum, which eliminates the need for regular oil changes and the associated costly downtime. Low acoustic noise levels (of around 52bB (A)) and minimal vibration make the pump a suited “fit and forget” unit for the laboratory. Available in four sizes, it can deliver speeds from 6 to 20 m3h-1 and vacuum as low as 5x10-3 Torr (model-dependant) as required in pharmaceutical laboratories, biotech research and high-energy physics.
