Materials Characterization Instrument

The K-Alpha material characterization instrument uses the technique of X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy for rapid quantitative monitoring of surface chemical composition. This provides chemical characterization of the top few nanometers of inorganic, organic, biological, metallurgical, semi-conducting and magnetic solids. Designed for high throughput sample analysis, the system incorporates data processing algorithms that offer full automation for data acquisition through to interpretation and reporting. Featuring a small footprint, it is capable of performing most routine operations with little or no user intervention once the samples are loaded into the device. All instrument and data processing are handled using the Microsoft Windows-based data system, Advantage. Electron optics delivers high sensitivity, permitting insight into complex surface chemistries for traditional materials and emerging biotech, nanotech and pharmaceutical applications.
