Columns Accelerate LC-MS Analysis of Synthetic Oligonucleotides

Phenomenex Clarity Oligo-MS columns Phenomenex Clarity Oligo-MS columns are suited for rapid and efficient LC-MS characterization and quality control of synthetic RNA and DNA. Based on proprietary core-shell particle technology, these C18 columns deliver shorter run times than traditional media, along with increased resolution and sensitivity. With the high resolving power of Oligo-MS, impurities in complex synthetic mixtures can be separated from the peak of interest in <10 min.

Part of the Clarity BioSolutions portfolio, the columns are packed with either 2.6 or 1.7-µm particles, enabling high efficiency on any HPLC or UHPLC platform. The 2.6-µm columns operate at reduced backpressures compared to other oligonucleotide-specific columns, delivering UHPLC performance on any LC instrument, and methods are easily transferable. The 1.7-µm columns boost the performance of existing sub-2-µm methods on high-pressure systems.

Core-shell technology enables high resolution and sensitivity over an extended linear velocity without generating excessive backpressure. The columns provide roughly twice the efficiency of fully porous 3-micron columns and 3x the efficiency of fully porous 5-micron columns, with lower limits of detection and quantitation.

Slow and Steady Wins the Race
In the 100 years since Marie Curie won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry, women have made leaps and bounds in science and engineering. Following the extreme example of Madame Curie, women have exponentially raised their position in S&E in the last few decades. In a field previously (and traditionally) dominated by men, women seem to be slowly but surely taking over—or at least leveling the playing field. ...continue
