High-Temperature GPC-IR Features Multiple Detectors

 GPC-IR from Polymer ChAR

The high-temperature GPC-IR from Polymer ChAR is suited for polyolefin analysis and features multiple detectors, including a viscometer and light scattering and infrared detector IR4, with concentration and composition sensors for short chain branching measurement and optional IR5-MCT for high-sensitivity applications.

Sample preparation is fully integrated into the compact system and does not require vial transfer. Filling, sample dissolution and injection are all performed automatically. In addition, an in-line filter has been incorporated, with backflush auto cleaning, so no previous filtration step is required.

The GPC-IR autosampler is a separate unit with 70 vials (10 mL) and two different temperature zones. Therefore samples stay at high temperature for the amount of time needed to prevent degradation. An independent column oven protects the column set, so all other hardware parts of the system can be serviced without cooling it down. GPC-IR virtual instrumentation software provides instrument control, process monitoring and complete GPC calculations, integrating all detector signals in a single package.

Striving Toward Secondary Goals
Late last month, Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich stunned most everyone when he declared his promise that "by the end of my second term, we will have the first permanent base on the moon." While I don’t fault Gingrich for dreaming and trying to set high standards and goals, I can’t help but think of the enormous amount of known and unknown variables that significantly deter this accomplishment...continue
