Aerosol-to-Liquid Particle Extraction System

Booth 3903. The portable aerosol-to-liquid particle extraction system collects and concentrates airborne metals into a liquid sample for on-site/real-time or laboratory analysis. Useful for coupling ICPMS-OES to airborne particle analysis, it offers near real-time sampling and analysis of welding fumes, workplace exposure measurement or environmental metal particle monitoring. The device is based on the use of wet electrostatic precipitation to separate particles from air with a collection efficiency that is >90% for particles <0.3 μm in diameter. Particles in air are drawn through the device at up to 200 lpm. They are charged at 8000 V and then collected in a liquid volume of 10- to 20-mL. Features include a self-contained electronics module, a control panel, and collection system components that are attached to a field-ready platform with a <1-sq-ft footprint.
