Network-Ready Temperature Measurement Instrument

Category: Data Acquisition Systems

The DT8871/72 Ethernet (LXI) version of the TEMPpoint temperature measurement provides a standard Ethernet connection to support remote monitoring and control of thermocouples, RTDs, and voltage or resistance in the field and on the factory floor. This network-ready version has received full Class C compliance and certification for LXI. Compatibility with other LXI devices is now assured for large system configurations. The instrument offers 48 separate channels with 24-bit resolution, each with its own A/D converter and CJC circuit. 1000-V channel-to-channel isolation protects signal integrity and rejects common mode noise. The DT8871/72 offer accurate temperature measurement and seamless application use in any Ethernet environment. Temperature channels can be expanded by simply adding more TEMPpoint instruments to the network. Temperature and voltage values can be viewed, graphed, or exported to Excel and allow limit checking for control or monitoring of a manufacturing process. Using the proprietary Web-based TEMPpoint application, users can configure, measure and control the DT8871 and DT8872 instruments either locally or remotely. Web pages are provided for configuring all aspects of the instrument: LAN, input channels to measure, scan parameters, alarm limits and digital I/O lines.

Striving Toward Secondary Goals
Late last month, Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich stunned most everyone when he declared his promise that "by the end of my second term, we will have the first permanent base on the moon." While I don’t fault Gingrich for dreaming and trying to set high standards and goals, I can’t help but think of the enormous amount of known and unknown variables that significantly deter this accomplishment...continue
