Two Standards Offer Safe Alternative to Potassium Dichromate

Category: Chemical Standards

The In-Spec Nanokit validates the photometric accuracy of the short pathlength instruments that are becoming more common in the biotechnologies marketplace. The kit is a safer alternative to the use of potassium dichromate in these open sample instruments. Users can use the same bottle of standard multiple times, whereas current options for potassium dichromate are a onetime-use standard. These instruments are commonly used for DNA and RNA analysis, so the wavelengths of interest are 260, 280 and 320 nm. The Nanokit addresses these wavelengths with the two provided standards. The In-Spec Patent Blue standard allows user to check at 260 and 280 nm, and the In-Spec Amaranth Red standard checks at 280 and 320 nm. This setup also allows a duplicate check at 280 nm that can help users to verify that the standards have not become contaminated. The kit provides an easy-to-use and effective alternative to traditional standards that aren't designed for use in such a short pathlength. Users can also perform a daily validation to meet internal regulations along with the requirements of external regulatory committees that before was not economically possible.
