The DSC1 from Mettler Toledo now features the latest advancement of modulated temperature differential scanning calorimetry (MTDSC), TOPEM. This new multi-frequency modulated technique allows complete separation of overlapping effects (reversing/non-reversing), accurate quasi-static heat capacity, and investigation of the frequency dependence of physical transitions-a verification of results. The DSC1's high sensitivity enables users to detect possibly unknown transitions, which increases product safety. The high resolution separates close-lying effects at higher heating rates up to 300 C/min, resulting in reduced analysis times. When the touch-free SmartSens infrared sensors are activated, users can open and close the furnace without touching any part of the instrument or disrupting a measurement. This saves time and prevents possible contamination.
