Calorimeter Employs Advanced TMDSC Technique

The DSC1's high sensitivity enables users to detect possibly unknown transitions, which increases product safety. The DSC1 from Mettler Toledo now features the latest advancement of modulated temperature differential scanning calorimetry (MTDSC), TOPEM. This new multi-frequency modulated technique allows complete separation of overlapping effects (reversing/non-reversing), accurate quasi-static heat capacity, and investigation of the frequency dependence of physical transitions-a verification of results. The DSC1's high sensitivity enables users to detect possibly unknown transitions, which increases product safety. The high resolution separates close-lying effects at higher heating rates up to 300 C/min, resulting in reduced analysis times. When the touch-free SmartSens infrared sensors are activated, users can open and close the furnace without touching any part of the instrument or disrupting a measurement. This saves time and prevents possible contamination.
