OMNIC Software for Raman Introduced at ACHEMA

May 20, 2009

Thermo Fisher Scientific announced the European launch of its OMNIC Specta software for Raman applications recently at the ACHEMA trade show in Frankfurt, Germany. Previously available only on FT-IR instruments, the new OMNIC Specta is a major innovation for Raman technology, providing immediate results regardless of the experience of the user. This software makes spectroscopy accessible to a wide, non-specialist audience especially to those working in QA/QC in pharmaceutical and polymer industries.

OMNIC Specta for Raman spectroscopy was designed to achieve productivity and sensitivity improvements in fast-paced environments that need to analyze the molecular composition of raw materials, production processes and finished goods. Enhanced data presentation features for multi-component searching transforms OMNIC Specta to an efficient method for one-step identification of complex materials. This eliminates time-consuming and subjective search-and-subtract iterations and brings new efficiency and accuracy to all users, no matter their expertise level, that need to fully identify unknown components in material mixtures.

For pharmaceutical applications, Thermo Fisher offers a wide range of spectroscopy solutions for raw material identification and QA/QC, including rugged and reproducible NIR, and easy, accurate FT-IR, Raman and UV-Vis solutions.

Slow and Steady Wins the Race
In the 100 years since Marie Curie won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry, women have made leaps and bounds in science and engineering. Following the extreme example of Madame Curie, women have exponentially raised their position in S&E in the last few decades. In a field previously (and traditionally) dominated by men, women seem to be slowly but surely taking over—or at least leveling the playing field. ...continue
