Earthquake Simulation Showcases Safer Bridges

August 4, 2010

Engineers from UC Berkeley's Pacific Earthquake Engineering Research Center (PEER) simulated some of the most devastating earthquakes in recent memory, to show off new technology designed to keep bridges functional both during and after a quake.

The tests exceed expectations and the team is looking forward to some analysis on the bridge before making good recommendations for future, safer bridge design.
