HILIC Guard Columns Prolong Column Life

ZIC-HILIC (hydrophilic interaction chromatography) series biocompatible guard columns contain a zwitterionic stationary phase. They are used to protect an analytical or preparative column from contamination by foreign matter, material that may have precipitated in solution, or the retention of materials that may be irreversibly retained on the column. Their design enables a smaller internal diameter than an analytical column, and it does not lead to any loss in overall separation efficiency or to any increase in the analysis time. In addition, the design is optimized to reduce dead volumes and prevent extra column band broadening. Available in a variety of sizes, the columns are commonly used in conjunction with a solvent inlet filter to optimize the quality of the sample/mobile phase that is delivered to the column.
