Lens Increases NPN Phototransistors Performance

The OP570 Series of NPN silicon phototransistors features a miniature surface mount package, measuring 0.10× 0.08, with a variety of lead options. An integral lens enables the devices to operate at a higher performance at a lower cost. Incorporating an infrared-transmissive lens enables the devices to handle higher collector currents with a narrow acceptance angle. Molding the lens into the surface mount package eliminates the need for an external lens, reducing overall assembly costs. The phototransistors are suitable for applications such as noncontact position sensing, infrared data acquisition and detection, and machine automation.
