Analyzer Checks Sulfur Specification in Eight Minutes
In only 8 minutes, the sulfur SIMDIS analyzer reports the sulfur boiling point distribution of petroleum products having a final boiling point of 450 C or lower at atmospheric pressure. It is based on Agilent’s 6890 Series GC with electronic pneumatics control. To detect sulfur components present in a sample, the analyzer features a sulfur chemiluminescence detector (SCD). The sensitivity of the SCD for sulfur components allows the analyzer to detect sulfur concentrations below 50 ppm in diesel samples and possibly down to 10 ppm depending on the distribution of the sulfur components in the sample. The special system design combines the sulfur application with the Accelerated SIMDIS ASTM D 2887 application. Using the SIMDIS application with an FID detector determines the boiling point data of the hydrocarbons in diesel fuel.
