Software Enhances Formula ID Accuracy

The MassWorks sCLIPS (self-calibrated lineshape isotope profile search) mass spectrometry software suite allows users of high mass accuracy (HMA) instruments, including TOF, high-resolution quadrupoles, Orbitrap, magnetic sector and FTMS, to improve the results of formula identification, and to obtain high quality, reproducible data through accurate line-shape calibration. The suite also allows ion trap users to obtain quality formula identification of unknown formulae. The technology provides a calibrant-free method for improving accurate-mass-only formula searches. It also enables formula ID through high spectral accuracy when running ion traps in zoom and enhanced resolution modes by virtue of its line shape calibration method.
