Laser Induced Plasma Spectoscopy Analyzer
The PORTA-LIBS-2000 element analyzer identifies compounds for various applications, including defense and security for chemical, biological, soil, metals, forensics and other material analysis. The instrument integrates portable spectrometers and 4-nanosecond pulsed, Nd:YAG NIR Laser that delivers 6 MegaWatts to create a plasma. Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) has become the common acronym for element detection using laser plasma. This permits real-time qualitative identification of trace elements in solids and liquids using optical detection of elemental emission spectra. Using this technique, little or no sample preparation is required. The portable instrument case is 18× 14× 7 and operates via 12-volt adapter or battery with two high resolution spectrometers. Depending on detection requirements, up to eight spectrometers can be attached via USB-2 computer interface. The SpectraWiz software provides element identification via spectral database for qualitative measurements only. Samples are quickly measured and saved to a log-file for summary reporting.
