Liquid Extrusion Porosimeter
The Liquid Extrusion Porosimeter determines pore volume without using mercury while also measuring liquid permeability. The sample is soaked in a liquid that spontaneously fills the pores in the sample. Pressure of a non-reacting gas on top of the sample is increased to displace the liquid from the pores. The volume of displaced liquid from pores is measured, and the pore diameter is obtained from pressure. Pore volume, pore diameter, and pore volume distribution are then computed. Liquid permeability is computed when pressure on the liquid maintained on top of the sample is increased and the volume of liquid flowing out of the sample is measured. This fully automated instrument contains Windows-based software for short testing times and minimal operator involvement.
