MS-Based Amino Acid Analyzer Brings New Approach to Food Testing

The Amino Acid 20/20 analyzer combines mass spectrometry with tagging reagents for applications like assessing the nutritional value of foods, beverages and animal feed. Achieving more than twice the speed of existing chromatography systems, the analyzer also provides optimum separation of amino acids, including difficult-to-distinguish isobaric amino acids with identical masses. Moreover, the internal standards established by the tagging reagents ensure the accuracy of quantitation. The analyzer is based on proprietary triple quadrupole mass spectrometers and uses iTRAQ chemistry reagents, which help to label the amino acids that are subsequently analyzed for accurate quantitation. Additionally, Cliquid applications software makes mass spectrometry-based applications easier to use.
