LC/MSD Multimode Ion Source Operates at High-Flow Rates
Booth 1618. The 1100 Series LC/MSD multimode ion source operates simultaneously in ESI and APCI modes. It ionizes virtually the entire range of analytes in a single run without exchanging or alternating sources. This eliminates the time-consuming process of switching sources and re-analyzing samples, providing twice the sample throughput of a dedicated source. The multimode source permits analysis of rapidly eluting peaks to enable fast chromatography and operates at high-flow rates, up to 2 mL/min, for high-throughput LC/MS. These features make it useful in high-throughput applications. The source can also operate in ESI- and APCI-only modes, and provides sensitivity comparable to dedicated sources. It also handles low flow rates for higher sensitivity analyses, and is compatible with most models of the proprietary 1100 LC/MSD quadrupole system with appropriate hardware and software upgrades.
