PEF-Based Pasteurization System
The pulsed electric field (PEF)-based pasteurization system handles up to 200 L/hour of liquid foods and provides pilot plant functionality for R&D and low volume production applications. This PEF system features a PowerMod solid-state pulse modulator that generates highly uniform bipolar electrical pulses at 䕠 kV/cm field strength with 25 kW average power. Capable of >5 log bacteria kill without heat, chemicals, or irradiation, this process has no impact on the food's taste and nutritional value. It incorporates separate electronics and treatment chambers that are retrofit into most existing processing lines and plants. Providing fully adjustable pulse widths, frequency, and power, this system processes a wide variety of foods while meeting FDA regulations.
