Ultracentrifugal Devices Deliver High Sample Recoveries

The Amicon Ultra-4 and 15 centrifugal devices offer a rapid, high-recovery protocol for desalting protein samples and exchanging buffers. High speed and high recovery are combined to allow an optimal method of salt removal and buffer exchange. The devices incorporate an Ultracel low-binding ultrafiltration membrane to deliver high sample recoveries with ten-minute spin times. They remove >92% of salt from samples with one centrifugal spin while recovering >90% of the protein. In addition, both devices allow for direct pipette sample access, which eliminates an extra processing step. The Amicon Ultra-4 device has a 4-mL maximum volume, while the Ultra-15 device has a 15-mL maximum volume. The devices are available in 8-, 24-, and 96-packs and come assembled with centrifuge tubes and caps.
