HPLC Columns Run at Half the Back Pressure
The 5-μm PRP-h1 columns run at half the back pressure of traditional 5-μm columns, which use modified polymeric reversed-phase material. Applications using traditional reversed-phase columns can be easily adapted to the PRP-h1 columns because peak selectivity is rarely affected. The columns provide advantages for demanding applications that normally exceed LC pump pressure limits because of small particle size/small ID columns used for LC-MS and small particle preparative size columns. Also, PRP-h1 extends column life for fast methods and high flow rates. Normal scale-up requires large particle sizes because of LC pump pressure limitations. With 5-μm PRP-h1, only one material is needed from analytical analysis to sample preparation. A proprietary polymer manufacturing process virtually eliminates trapped impurities and un-reacted oligomers in PRP-h1, resulting in very low bleed for LC-MS applications. Also, the columns are pH stable from 1 to 13 and easily accommodate a range of organic solvents.
