Standards for Highly Reactive VOCs in Water
The liquid standards generator model LSG-2-GF dynamically blends a flowing stream of calibration standard mixture. Leaks in heat exchangers can result in cooling water becoming contaminated with trace concentration of volatile compounds. To detect problems early, cooling water is monitored online, but preparing and maintaining reliable calibration standards is difficult because VOCs evaporate preferentially from the standard. Permeation technology is used to add a tiny flow of analyte to a precisely known flow of clean water to form a primary mixture. An aliquot of the primary mixture is then further diluted to form the liquid standard. Varying the aliquot added to the final dilution water adjusts the concentration of the standard, and dilution water flows are controlled by precision metering pumps.
