Pilot Benchtop Separation System Expedites Process Development

The CARR Powerfuge Pilot benchtop separation system expedites the development of challenging liquid/solid separations prior to full process scale-up. The system employs a unique design that ensures higher product yields, drier solids and clearer supernatants. Flow rates from 0.1 - 4 L/min and RCFs from 500 - 20,000 × g provide flexible operation conditions for the optimization of specific applications, including fermentation, vaccine production, plasma fractionation, precipitate capture, cell harvesting, inclusion bodies, and cell debris clarification. Validated in pharmaceutical, biotech and chemical processes, it incorporates sealed feed and drain lines for aerosol-free operation. When a separation has been completed, the operator can disassemble the system to access the bowl and remove dry, compacted solids without using special tools.
