Sulfur Analyzer Performs Continuous Stream or Batch Sampling

Hydrogen sulfide, carbonyl sulfide, sulfur oxide, methyl mercaptan, and ethyl mercaptan as trace impurities in carbon dioxide are of critical importance to carbon dioxide manufacturers and the carbonated beverage industry. The Series 200SA Sulfur Analyzer meets ISBT Methods 13 and 14 criteria for selective measurement of total sulfur content (TSC), total sulfur content excluding SO2 (TSC*) measurements, and speciating SO2 from other sulfur impurities in beverage grade, vaporized liquid CO2. Continuous stream or batch sampling operations are readily performed. This instrument has been developed for both the CO2 producer and the beverage bottler. It accepts samples from a variety of sources (cylinders, bulk tanks, trucks, rail cars) and performs continuous, unattended sampling and analysis. All maintenance activities are modular and easy to perform. Calibration and sample introduction are totally automated. A newly designed Flame Photometric Detector (FPD) and proprietary technology are used for specific measurement of sulfur compounds without interference from other potential impurities in beverage-grade CO2. The lower detectable limit of the sulfur components is <5 ppb, which is well below the ISBT guideline limit of 100 ppb. The trace impurities listed above are speciated, captured, compared against a previous standard calibration run, and the value is read from the instrument panel.
