Fast GC Separations of Organochlorine Pesticides
by Greg France, Gary Stidsen, and Neil Mosesman
Abstract
Analyte breakdown, poor linearity, column bleed, and long calibration times can complicate a GC analysis for organochlorine pesticides. A new capillary GC column with high thermal stability, the Rtx®-440 column, provides excellent resolution and sub-10-minute analyses times for 20 commonly encountered pesticides. An Rtx®-CLPesticides2 column performs similarly, and the two columns can be used together in a rapid dual-column analysis.
Assessments for organochlorine pesticides are among the most challenging gas chromatographic analyses an analyst can run. Analyte breakdown can cause poor linearity, column reactivity and bleed can affect sensitivity and reproducibility, and calibration times can be long.
