Analytical System Measures Sulfur-Containing Compounds Easily

Stable, sensitive, and robust, the ESD system enables routine measurement of thiols, thioethers, disulfides and other sulfur-containing compounds. An electrochemical cell with a boron doped diamond (BDD) working electrode provides optimal sensitivity and durability while eliminating the problems—fouling, high background, and mobile phase oxidation—associated with earlier ECD systems. When coupled with the Coulochem III ECD system, the electrode offers researchers the solution to a long-standing problem in bioanalysis: that of effectively and efficiently analyzing sulfur-containing compounds. Typical procedures require complex sample handling, compound derivatization, or enzymatic methods that provide limited information.
