Analytical System Directly Measures Sulfur-Containing Compounds

The Coulochem III ECD system enables routine measurement of thiols, thioethers, disulfides and other sulfur-containing compounds. From oxidative metabolism to signal transduction, sulfur-containing compounds are critical to a variety of biologically and clinically important processes. But until now, measuring these compounds has been difficult. The analytical system incorporates a specially developed electrochemical cell with a boron-doped-diamond (BDD) working electrode that provides superior sensitivity and durability. In addition, the problems associated with earlier ECD systems, such as fouling, high background, and mobile phase oxidation, are eliminated. When coupled with the system, the electrode allows sulfur-containing compounds to be analyzed effectively and efficiently.
