Guard Cartridge System Increases Life Span of Prep Columns
Iso-Prep Guard, a guard cartridge system, protects prep columns with 20- to 50-mm inner diameter with no degradation of peak shape or plate count. Its short, 10-mm length yields low pressure drop at flow rates in excess of 50 mL/min. Columns are protected two ways. The guard first acts as a filter, trapping particles in their frits. Second, when the guard column is packed with the same material as the prep column, it removes compounds that irreversibly adsorb to the packing material. Additionally, a simple packing technique increases the effectiveness of the guard’s ability to save time.
