Capillary and Micro Columns for Demanding Separations

A range of capillary and micro chromatography columns has been introduced for small-scale chromatography. Chemically stable polymeric particles are ideal for small-scale chromatography and in particular, LC-MS applications, as they do not leach either soluble or particulate species. They can therefore be used for demanding high-sensitivity separations, for applications including proteomics, combinatorial chemistry, high-throughput screening, and ADME. Capillary columns with a 300-μm internal diameter are suited to sample sizes in the range pg to ng, and are used with flow rates around 4 μL/minute. Micro columns with an internal diameter of 1.0 mm are designed for sample sizes in the range ng to mg, and typically operate at flow rates in the range of40 μL/minute. These capillary and micro chromatography columns are available packed with reversed phase (PLRP-S), as well as strong and weak cation (PL-SCX, PL-WCX) and anion (PL-SAX, PL-WAX) wide-pore exchange media. A gigaporous 4000 Å range of reversed phase and ion exchange materials is available where ultra high-speed analyses are required.
