Capillary and Micro Chromatography Columns
A range of capillary and micro-chromatography columns has been launched for small-scale chromatography. Chemically stable polymeric particles are ideal for small-scale chromatography, and in particular LC-MS applications, as they are chemically stable and do not leach either soluble or particulate species. They can therefore be used for the most demanding high-sensitivity separations for applications including proteomics, combinatorial chemistry, high-throughput screening, and ADME. Capillary columns with a 300-μm internal diameter are best suited to sample sizes in the pg to ng range, and are used with flow rates around 4 μL/min. Micro columns with an internal diameter of 1.0 mm are designed for sample sizes in the ng to mg range, and typically operate at flow rates in the range 40 μL/min. Capillary and micro chromatography columns are available with reversed phase (PLRP-S) and both strong and weak cation (PL-SCX, PL-WCX) and anion (PL-SAX, PL-WAX) wide pore exchange media.
