Grace's New Flash Chrom System

March 17, 2010

Grace Davison Discovery Sciences expanded the company’s REVELERIS product portfolio with the introduction of a new flash purification system for use by pharmaceutical and agribusiness researchers.

The new system streamlines the purification of new molecular entities and natural products. It was specifically designed for customers whose higher productivity needs and small sample sizes are not addressed by current flash technology. By incorporating leading-edge technology, the new system will aid researchers in overcoming significant purification challenges.

Productivity gains of the newest system are realized through the integration of RevealX detection technology and enhanced system software. Using RevealX, the REVELERIS system overcomes the limitation of traditional ultra-violet (UV) detection (which only detects chromophoric components, missing impurities or compounds of interest that cannot be found using traditional UV detection only). Advanced optimization features within the software speed separation and deliver optimal separation guidance needed by discovery scientists. Ideal for purification and isolation of smaller amounts of components from mixtures, the system steamlines flash purification with enhanced turnkey operation.

The system is also equipped with REVELERIS SRC cartridges that use Radio Frequency identification (RFID) and a new higher pressure rating to improve purification by maximizing system resolution, sample loading and recovery. Also the REVELERIS SRC cartridges are inverted on the system to overcome channeling and voiding.

“Grace has a long-standing commitment to continuous innovation and improved productivity,” says Joanne Green, General Manager and Vice President of Grace Davison Discovery Sciences. “Our new REVELERIS system uses technological advances that reduce purification times and increase sample purity, which helps our customers streamline their discovery processes and bring important drugs to market more quickly.”

The company spotlighted the REVELERIS flash system, the next generation of flash purification system, at Pittcon 2010.

Slow and Steady Wins the Race
In the 100 years since Marie Curie won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry, women have made leaps and bounds in science and engineering. Following the extreme example of Madame Curie, women have exponentially raised their position in S&E in the last few decades. In a field previously (and traditionally) dominated by men, women seem to be slowly but surely taking over—or at least leveling the playing field. ...continue
